Since the tragedy in Tucson, America has once more jumped on its anti-gun violence soapbox. There is a ring of truth to the need for better regulations when it comes to the firearms issue, but considering the level of disjointed views unforeseen consequences everyone should take a step back.
Both sides of the gun control issue are wrong and yet right on many different levels. The single biggest problem with stepping into the second amendment arena is the inability to rationalize any changes to the way firearms ownership is handled.
One primary reason for the second amendment that people tend to blatantly ignore happens to fall into the issue of guaranteeing the right of personal safety and a means to give the average citizen some form of strength in stopping any government or police force from easily violating personal freedoms or overpowering society as a whole.
For those who say “that can’t happen” (REMEMBER- that very ideology is how communist dictatorships come to power) and for a direct example look at Haiti under Duvalier, look at Germany under Hitler, and in present day Russia where citizens have only those rights which their government allows them to have.
There have been countless bills put forth to regulate firearms. The most notable “The Brady Bill” which required a waiting period to purchase and required a thorough background check, which in Arizona was idiotically ignored. Though tragic, the tragedy in Tucson was as much the fault of law enforcement as it was the shooter. NO ONE SHARED INFORMATION, AND NO ONE CHECKED ANYTHING OUT ABOUT THE SHOOTER, THERE IS YOUR GUN CONTROL LAWS AT WORK. Had anyone done their jobs as prescribed by law, that entire situation would never have happened.
The hidden danger in gun control lies at the very heart of those who want to legislate the issue, as the case has been in the past those who seek new methods tend to infringe on every privacy and constitutional right that taxpaying Americans hold sacred. Since 9/11 Americans have seen their rights trampled on and systematically removed one at a time. In total truth, the criminals and the terrorists have more rights and freedom to operate in this country than any average citizen does. READ YOUR FACTS AND TAKE A STRONG LOOK AT BEFORE AND AFTER 9/11, THAT IS TRUE. If the rules and regulations that already exist were just followed the way they were meant to be this issue would not be here today, that too is FACT. Gun control is just as dangerous when left in the wrong hands.
