Another year is upon us and the sights and sounds of Christmas are surrounding us once more, still there is the point to which even Christmas can bring out the worst in people. The things that most people don't realize is just how difficult this time of year can be for some.
There are many concerns for a great deal of people right now, job and home loss, the economy, family members fighting a war far from home, and Loneliness. There are still times that I can see movies about families enjoying the holidays together or walk in to a local retail store and see all the decor and find even myself lonely beyond measure, I can understand the depth of emotion that consumes your very being when you take in all the sights and sounds that were once a part of times that you shared with someone special.
It is so important to remember that for some people, the anger or sadness you see in them is truly not a reflection of them. It is a detailed portrait of the road they are on and the emptiness that holds them so strongly in it's grasp when holidays like Christmas come around and all you have are reminders of what was.
Having come to know that emptiness all too well I am mindful not to criticize and to keep in mind the fact that I nor anyone else can really know what others around us are dealing with.
Loss and loneliness are very powerful to even the strongest of souls, and sometimes that strength runs out. Those who seem sad or angry at Christmas should be given the weight of our kindness and strength and our warmest wishes, We may be the only strength they have left.
